My aim is to promote health through good nutrition enabling clients to lead a more fulfilling life. The consultation will show your health status and any problems will be corrected together. Many of you will be suffering from Tired All The Time syndrome; my energy boosting diet is especially designed for you.

There are 2 appointments available to you - Full Nutritional Consultation or Weight Loss Plan (this one has a personal dietary booklet  for you to take away and review your situation). The Full Nutritional Consultation uses computer software and a computer generated booklet is yours to take home.

Food choices are important as are cooking methods. A healthy eating plan is essential to prevent illnesses, e.g. a diet which is low in saturated fats can reduce your risk of coronary heart disease.  I also aim to dispel food myths e.g. omitting carbohydrates from your diet does not give more energy.

In general the population needs to eat smaller portions, think ahead with regard to what you will eat and exercise more. This would show health improvements by decreasing obesity, diabetes. gastro-intestinal problems and diseases of ageing.

Are you getting enough sleep?  If not try the herb valerian before going to the G.P. for sleeping tablets.  Being tired affects the appetite (usually by decreasing but can be increasing).  Those of you under-weight need to eat 3 meals plus snacks whether you feel hungry or not.

News of the  month - Low carb diets may reduce coronary disease risk in women.  Low carb diets traditionally mean more fat and protein leading to higher risk of coronary heart disease, however the Harvard School of Public Health states that the nurses on the trial ate low G.I. foods and got their fats from vegetable sources.  The conclusion was that low saturated fat and low G.I. are good for the waistline and cardiovascular health.
